Coal Fines Reclamation
Midwest US
Project Services: EPC | Home Office Engineering, Design, & Procurement | Seconded Project and Construction Management
Project Summary
This innovative use for waste coal mined from coal impoundments left in the 1950’s through the 1980’s is a proprietary process that produces a filter cake of micro-fine 99% pure hydrocarbon that can be used in a variety of combustible fuel applications as well as other non-combustion applications. The mineral waste removed from the refuse will be returned to the impoundment making the land viable for farming or sold as a soil enhancement. IPM was integral in the process development and all facets of project and construction management as well as commissioning, start-up, and optimization support. The facility is the first successful production scale facility to produce 99% pure hydrocarbon from waste coal.
